Game journal Feb 09: Sonic Rush!

YES! Now this is what I'm taking about!

Although I'm a Nintendo fanboy, I enjoy Sega games, specially Sonic ones, and I must say this is my favorite up to date...

It's taken all what I loved about the Sonic games and taken out what I didn't like!

One of the things I disliked the most about the Sonic games is that you have to gather the Chaos Emeralds to get the good ending, and it's usually just too darn frustrating to get them...

All that is changed in this game, before you only had one chance to get the Chaos Emerald per stage, and if you missed, you were pretty much screwed...

And now, the system has changed for starters you now have a "trick bar" which fills up when doing special trick on trampolines and rails and such, and it's this guage which allows you to enter Special Stages, which are entered by using "Special Gadgets", you can retry as long as you have enough energy in the special bar, and sometimes you can recharge it close to the stage and try as many times as you want!

The special stages are now controlled with the DS stylus, and for once I actually stand a chance to get them all! (I beat the game but I'm missing the final Emerald)

Speaking of the Emeralds, it's not only Sonic trying to recover the Chaos Emeralds, Eggman has joined forces with Eggman Nega, from another dimension, who has stolen the Sol Ememralds, Blaze the cat is their guardian and has followed Eggman Nega to Sonic's world to retrieve them, and you get to play her too...

She's basically the same as Sonic, except she can hover a little...

The game has a good learning curve so the frustration is non-existant...

And the awesome music is back! I made a special effort to beat the game just to access the sound test!

Now let's see if I can get the perfect ending! :P
