Drat! Drat! And double drat! When I woke up this morning and turned my PC I noticed it only loaded a few apps and simply started acting like it was a 286 trying to run Quake 4...

Slow as mollases going uphill in January... ON CRUTCHES!

I resetted a few times, but nothing happened, I managed to run the anti-virus but after almost an hour it was still reading the system registry...

Just when all hope was lost, I decided to to use the canned air spray on the CPU and motherboard, and wouldn't you know it, it's working fine now!

Could it be that all the dust the worker are making with the remodelling did this?

Could my motherboard and or CPU be on it's last legs?

I only wanted to upgrade my graphics card, but I have the feeling that my motherboard just won't accept new ones, I've gone through two graphics card that won't even work with a just formatted PC, but unfortunately I can't find a PCI-E motherboard that has the same socket as my CPU, so I'll probably have to buy a CPU, Motherboard AND graphic card...

The thing is, how long can I wait? Who knows if my PC will work tomorrow, or maybe it will last a whole year, I just don't know...

Definately keep dusting it - my father in law runs a very dusty business, and the computers in the main workstations are always very slow because they forget to dust inside the CPU, and then the computers need replacing almost every year.

If you dust it out every day, every other day, it should stay OK for a while. Just keep an eye on it and make sure you defragment the computer and don't let your files start to degrade.
