Battling the Backlog Week 3: MORE ADVENTURE! IN SPACE AND.... with cops?

Monday:

For once I had time to actually beat a game!

Space Quest I:
Wow! I know that old school adventure are short, but this is just silly! I can't say much about this game... Space Quest I isn't every funny or memorable....

Tuesday:

Space Quest II:
It's almost the same as SQI, you escape, you crash, you escape the planet you crash on and take on the people who got you in trouble in the first place... Only now it's a bit better....

Space Quest III:
The formula is still pretty similar to SQI, but isn't getting better..... It's also super short too! You have to rescue the creators of the game?
Hmm... I'm getting the feeling that they are picking on Lucasarts with this game... Scumsoft? As is SCUMM used by the Lucasarts games?
Also they keep telling me how much I such at thing game and how much Roger sucks... and not in the funny way the King of the Cosmos does....

Space Quest IV:
For once the plot is different, you travel in time... to your sequels? Now I'm getting the feeling that not only do they like to insult the player and the hero... and Lucasarts, but they start to pick on Larry Laffer too!

Wednesday:

Space Quest V:
Now isntead of insulting you and the hero, the game is just a Star Trek parody? I feel that at this point Sierra probably scolded the makers of the game and told them they should make a funny game instead of a game that made fun of you...

Space Quest VI:
Won't work no matter how much I try....

Police Quest II:
It's a police adventure... that makes you do all the boring stuff that you don't see in cop movies....

Thursday:

Police Quest III:
It's official... I hate Police Quest.... Why do they keep putting this boring unnecessary stuff?

"Fortunately" Police Quest Open Season doesn't work on my PC no matter what I do....

Unfortunately Police Quest SWAT did.... Is it me or this just a FMV shooter? Either way, I couldn't make it through the training level... It was way too long and my hatred for the Police Quest series had grown too much for me to tolerate another game....
I give this game dishonorable discharge from my backlog.... I very rarely take a game of my list just because I don't like it... But I loathed this one.....

Friday:

I finally beat Peggle on the iPhone! I'm pretty sure I don't have to explain Peggle to anybody, right?

Raptor: Call of the Shadow :
It was pretty fun for a PC shmup, but it did get a bit long and repetitive for a shmup...
I'd rather have a shmup with 10 unique levels than 30 repetitive ones....

Wallace & Gromit: Muzzled:
The bad guy had chicken henchmen! I love this game! <3

Tyrian 2000:
Another PC Shmup, from the competitors who made Raptor... One was from Apogee, the other from Epic... I forget which....
This is much better than Raptor, and has much awesomer powerups and many secrets, but.... Once again... It felt WAY too long for a shmup!

Saturday:

Igor: Objetivo Uikokahonia: A Spanish adventure game from the people who made Runaway, this was made many years before and looks a bit like SCUMM game, but....

The game is about Igor, some student in love with the obligatory blonde, and you must help him get together with the blonde by getting on the school trip... But how? By being the biggest douche EVER!

Seriously, not a single thing this guys does was done to help others, unless he got something in return... The more I played the more I disliked the hero... He lied, stole, pranked, scammed.... Sure, I know most adventure game heroes do this kind of thing too, but they are either actually likable or at least the do it for a good cause!

Prince of Persia 2:
Remember when you could die in Prince of Persia? Well, here you die A LOT! Wow! That was hard... But awesome! It ended like they intended for it to have a sequel... Well, I still have Prince of Persia 3D to play...

Battle Arena Toshinden 2:
While it did look kinda nice on my PC with a high resolution... It played pretty bad with my sucky gamepad.... I still managed to beat it though....

Wrath of the Demon:
It's a Shadow of the Beast "clone", only harder and more annoying.... The only reason I beat it is because I found a longplay on Youtube! The final level is a maze that's VERY confusing... At least to me....

I somehow had time to beat even another game...

Venice:
An unknown PopCap game that is rather good! You're a gondola that shoots symbols to fit into blocks, once the block has all it's symbols filled it, it dissapears, once all the blocks dissapears you advance to the next area until you finish the area...

The thing is that once a symbol is fitted into it's place it becomes an obstacle until the block is gone, so some minor strategy is needed!

As you progress, you'll get warps, obstacles you can't get rid off and many other things to add to the challenge...

It's about 70 levles, which a palyed a bit every so often....

Sunday:
What a bust... every game I installed gave the same damn graphical glitch... Hopefully they'll work if I use Virtual PC and install an older OS? But that's for another day....

So I just played...

Wonder Boy in Monster Land:

Wonder Boy is a fun game, but... boy is the final boss ridiculously hard!

Hey! It looks like I reached the 150 mark already! HUZZAH!

I remember saying I'd reward me by buying a new game... but... I just know that if I buy a long one I won't play it until I have nothing left BUT long games... I have no idea of what to buy.... I have bought much excpet Steam deals since January!

Also, I'm going to keep going on and see how many more I can beat before the month ends... Since I'm running out of short games I'm going to try to see if I can reduce my list even further so next months goal will seem possible?

Since my list if now much shorter you can just visit it and point out the shorter games for me to play!
