I can't believe I'm saying this but...

I'm NOT getting the iPhone!
Spain never got the original iPhone and we're getting the 3G version instead, the thing is...
They FORCE you to make a contract with them, I wouldn't mind it if it weren't for the fact that most of the montly fee is for an interent serivice.
How many of you use YOUR iPhone to surf? On a daily basis? More than your home computer? I doubt it... ¬_¬
I don't mind yearly fees for things I only use a little, like GameTap or XBox Live, but the montly fee seems ridiculous unless you're a business man that's constantly traveling and need the internet 24/7 for your job! It's like paying a month worth rent for a home you only visit once a month for an hour!
Hopefully they'll release it without a contract.... eventually?

How pricey is the monthly fee?
And I hate being stuck in a contract with a company. It's like a bad relationship.
I don't have an iPhone and never plan on getting one. Right now I just use the mobile for outgoing/incoming calls and emergency purposes. If I get myself into texting and browsing online... Well, then I'll become addicted and end up broke. It's bad enough I do those things at my computer. ;P
24€ (38$) for two years...

Hrm... And that's not on top of normal mobile fees? It is a bit much, if that is the case.

BTW, have you ever done pixel art of a tanuki? I forget if I've ever asked you this.

Whaaaat? How come? You do a lot of awesome pixel art (which I tend to read/look at and not comment on... but I do read and look!) and am surprised you haven't!
I tend to puns and comics... So far I haven't found an excuse or reason for making one yet? ^_^;
You'd be surprised how much you end up using the iphone to surf - just because you can. XD;;; KS and I both use ours regularly.
I think you can purchase 1st gen iphones and unlock those with no problems. ^^
I can surf with my PSP, DS and Wii, but I almost never do... ^_^;
We don't have 1st gen iPhones here, I would get on on eBay, but I would like it to be able get costume support and Apple care.
The ease of net surfing on an iPhone is really remarkable. Aside from the fact you can't view flash-driven sites, webpages are pretty much as you see them on your computer. In fact, I probably do most of my tweets from my iphone. Typing tons of stuff can be a pain though - but doable.
I'm not sure how the Apple Care extends to overseas... the problem is primarily with the fact that if a phone is unlocked for use outside of the current AT&T network, you lose your warranty.
The thing I find most ridiculous? The phone has WI FI. Why on earth would they lock you into a contract requiring internet when there are many people who would never use it? We have wi-fi at home, my husband has wi-fi at work, and while the occasional lookup or something for google maps could be useful, I have no desire to pay a hundred dollars a month for that priviledge. >.
I'm pretty sure you're paying for the use of the 3G networks, which you probably won't use since you have Wi-fi at home and when abroad most hotel have Wi-fi too!
You have to pay a hundred in the US? And I thought Spain was being screwed! :O
Yeah, the devaluation of the dollar means AT&T can charge whatever they want - and they want to charge $99 a month! So I'm still on TMobile, waiting for the Android phone due at the end of the year (but also hoping that the new iPhone means prices might drop on the old style iPhone which can be unlocked to use on TMobile, no need to get the internet data package).
I just looked up the Android phone and it looks pretty awesome, hopefully they won't do something stupid like forcing us to get contract for it? ^^;
Well, I'm betting T-Mobile will offer it without a contract for about $400 and with a contract for $150. That's usually what happens with all of their phones. And from what I hear, TMobile gets the first Android based phone. Yay for me!
Hopefully they'll do something like that over here soon?

Actually it's more like 199 euros the 16 gb and a 24 month contract (24 euros/month) :P
hopefully i'll get mine friday, and after that you'll drool over mine on sunday lunch :P :P
I can afford it, but I simply refuse to pay for a service I won't use! D:
Yep... they force you here in the US too... and they'll brick it if you've somehow managed to free it up from the ATT network.
I'm not doing the iphone either.
Brick it? You mean deactivate it?
yep.. pretty much render it useless
