I'm listening to The Kris & Scott Power Hour and they are basically saying that webcomics are dying and people are caring less about them than ever, and that the only thing keeping them alive is drama....

They say that when you get popular you should no longer giving a damn about it, and that comics are dying because the only news there is about drama...

What the? There are news about webcomics daily! Just because the webcomic isn't as famous as them, doesn't mean they aren't doing anything noteworthy!

It surprises me how little they now about the world of webcomics... Sure maybe there is a part of the webcomic world that thrives on drama and just want to see artists insulting each other, but that doesn't mean the rest of us read webcomics like drama!

They also say that the only news about webcomics that is drama is about how they reached 500 strips and that many people in the webcomic community can't draw or write, but want to be treated as if they were important... Yes, there are lots of people who can't draw or write but do comic anyway, but I don't see them acting as if they were important...

Either they don't know what they are talking about or they are doing this on purpose to create webcomic drama? I dunno, but this is, like the third time this week that they've pissed the webcomic community off, right?

I dunno... I listened to it and it didn't seem so bad. They were mostly saying that they are realizing that they always drag themselves into webcomic drama, when everyone else has seemed to figure out that that's stupid.

They did talk about the drama, but they also said that the webcomic community was dying and that you didn't need them to be successful. Which is silly because you always hear of a webcomic from another webcomic or from someone who reads them...

That's true, but you gotta remember when Kurtz started there was no "webcomic community". So his success didn't rely on links from other comics in the beginning. But I don't think they were trying to be malicious. I think that's just how the WC world looks like to them.

No webcomic community? He part of the defunct Big Panda community! The whole panda joke came from that community! I don't know if he took part of it, but he was in it!

Hmmm, don't know how I missed this one... meh... I don't see them as dying. There are plenty of really great ones out there along with plenty of really horrible ones and many that are right in between... just like in newspaper comics.

Its just that with newspaper comics, you only get the static page of print. No behind the scenes, no forums, no comment boxes so... really no drama mamas other than what the artist puts into his or her work ...wiley's digs at kurtz that he does every so often comes to mind...'course I would not know that they were digs targeted at kurtz had he not mentioned it himself on his forum/newsbox. The one that comes to mind was funny on its own without having knowlege of "the back story."

The ones on the web that are full of fail are those that try to stir the excrement in order to fulfill thier own self-importance or maybe just to generate the traffic to themselves.
