YAY! Side A arrived! And some SHIIIIIINY things too! XD

And Rachel signed it! XD

The SHIIINY buttons now have a new home...

My pack is now full of shiny things! And hopefully it will be full of comics and even more shiny things when I come back from the U.K.! :)

Also I got this the other day!

This is the kind of quirky silly music I like! Dum dum doi doi! XD

I loved Side A so much I feel like ranting about how my "musical" life....

When I was a kid, I didn't listen to much music, I had a pop record of the Minipops and something called  Nutty Numbers, which is full of quirky and silly songs about bulldogs who drink champagne, and other silly things... I blame this record for my current quirky musical taste...

I wasn't really exposed to music, I hated the music my parents listened too, and I wasn't very fond of the music my sister liked when she taped Madonna videos over my toons....

I actually considered myself a music hater as a kid, and imagined myself as a bad guy like Murky and Lurky, only I hated music instead of color...

But this was never true... When I saw re-runs of the Groovy Goolies I fell in love with them, but mostly because I love anything with monsters in it! I also loved Drac Pack and similar toons... I loved Kidd Video and I can still remember and sing the Galaxy High theme song...

But I still kept telling myself that I didn't like music, and this was... different....

Gaming was a HUGE influence in my musical taste, I would put an Amiga game an listen to the music of games like Impossamole, Lemmings, Shadow of the Beasts for hours, and yet, I still told myself I didn't like music and this was... something else...

Oddly enough, I was introduced to Nintendo after this, which was even a bigger influence to me and my musical taste... (Where do you think I got the "Tanuki" from Tanukitsune?) Castlevania, Mario and Zelda are still my favorite soundtracks ever!

I never really openly considered myself a music lover until one fateful day I saw Tiny Toons and listened to their MTV parody... You can only guess which songs I fell in love with... Yep, that was the day I became a They Might Be Giants fan!

It took me quite a while to realize that it's not that I don't music, it's that I don't like "normal" music...

Being a game collector, I ended up with a few game soundtrack that game with special edition games... I never actually bought one until my sister gave me a TMBG CD set. After this, I finally dared to buy my first CD. Unfortunately, my first choice wasn't a good one, I won't say the name of the group, but I only liked the songs that I had already heard on TV a hundred times before... Thanks to that CD I'm still weary of buying music...

But I did buy more music, I bought game related music CDs like the Minibosses or Machine Supremacy, and eventually had enough to justify an iPod...

Thanks to the iPod I discovered podcasts and eventually discovered groups like Beatnik Turtle and the awesome Jonathan Coulton...Which is where I am today, I like all kinds of music, but mostly the geeky, quirky and silly... And the gamey or course! :P

Cool loot! :D

Have you ever listened to the "Barenaked Ladies"? They're a really quirky group that I love. You might want to give them a try. :)

I tend to like off-stream music too, but not those that do it on purpose to get fame/money. So the result is I like artists that are a)really into their unique sound and b)comfortable being different, despite missing the mainstream. Actually, a bit of nerdiness doesn't hurt either. Examples:

-- Yello
-- Aphex Twin
-- Art of Noise
-- Kraftwerk

I like Yokko Kanno's stuff too, but I'm an anime nerd. I'm not much of a gamer.

Ooh, Candi button.

I'm pretty much a music fan, except for most of the pop stuff. I'm considered anti-pop sometimes.

Game music is awesome.
I used to listen to the music of Platoon, Battleships and Outrun on my C=64. And finding the SID music (and a SID player) from Platoon is my most precious find of the last few years.
